Hello everyone! September has come, so I decided to add some bad guys in my portfolio. For the moment we have many guards and their bosses, but this month I will focus on some demons. And since such evil monsters cannot move between realms on themselves, I decided to start with a portal which will ease their movement between worlds. So today I present you with my latest scenery 3D printable model – the Demonic Portal!
This time I decided to paint it myself and although I got 0 (zero) exp on painting, I think that the result is quite good.
But let me focus on the scenery piece.
Knowing that demons come from an inferno world (where fire, lava and hot stuff is just a normal thing to see), I make the portal to resemble a flaming vortex that erupts from the ground. It is a swirling fire around one centre that has to sides – the pulling and the pushing one.
And taking into consideration that it is an erupting inferno, I connect the main demonic portal to the base of the model with a flame jet to simulate the coming out from the ground fire. Of course due to this sheer force the big stone slabs will not stay in place. Usually they will go flying in the air and eventually melt in the process, but for this specific 3D printable model I decided to leave them intact, but flying in the air and following the swirling pattern of the portal just to outline better its path. And as expected each side of the portal has its on set of stones that are in mid-air 🙂
As I said above this portal has two sides and is quite thick, so I have added additional flames between the front and back part to make it look like a hell gate. But I think that the painting itself make the portal looks cool 🙂
Also there are some runes that make it be more realistic – as if someone has cast a spell to open the portal and these runes are there to keep it open and let demons pour out and do their dirty job. And these runes are on both sides as expected.
