After I created my first small and completed two-storey house with all the cool looking furniture, I thought that it will be empty if there lives no one inside. So I decided to sculpt at least two new minifigures to inhabit the building and to give it fresh life for future use of it. That is why today I will present you with a figure that I think is an iconic one in the folklore or in the real life (like the US lumberjacks in the past), or perhaps in some fairy tales or even in some unique adventures! And without further ado here comes the Iconic Lumberjack!
This 3D printable miniature was inspired from the classic figure of this profession, so here I tried to incorporate all the elements known for the lumberjack – a man that combines inhuman strength (after all he cut down big trees with a single axe), fast reflexes (expert avoiding falling timber) and unnatural constitution (work even more than a horse). So the overall appearance of this Iconic Mini is a big and muscular man carrying a big wood log on one shoulder and having an axe in the other hand.
And since this minifigure has to fit in the overall design of the rural house, I decided to make him look more like a commoner or a peasant – with simple clothes, no fancy weapons and no special haircut or mustache. So for starters the face of the lumberjack looks quite simple, but effective. The bold head with the blue piercing eyes give him the appearance of a strong willed man ready to cut you into halves if you make troubles. Moreover the wide shoulders and big biceps show off his inhuman strength. That is why I used shirt with short sleeves to underline his masculine power.
And working for the visual of a commoner, the dress code here is (from top to bottom) a rugged one with some stitches and simple things. I tried to make the clothes look more realistic with some folds, loose ends, some damages on the metal parts of the axe and the chain. Just kept all simple. This applies to both the upper and the lower clothes. So here is no wonder that the jacket looks ordinary with some strings to tied it up.
This can also be said about the pants too. They are just the everyday one that are used by the majority of the common people.
And the boots too. I tried here to recreate simple, light and not eye catching leather boots with loose shoelaces.
The next attribute to the inventory is the belt. Although it looks common and uninteresting, it is quite thick and heavy duty and have a metal buckle. That is so due to the fact that the work and the life of the lumberjack is hard and he needs only good stuff. Also this is the reason he has a small bag at his disposal. It is made of quality leather with many stitches – just to underline his status and that this item is homemade!
And since the lumberjack knows his profession, I have added several interesting things that separate this minifigure form the mundane ones.
The first thing is the big and heavy wood log which the Lumberjack carry on his right shoulder. Here the idea was to underline two things – first this profession. And second – his power.
The next thing is the axe. This time this is not some fancy battle axe, but simple and effective one. Which by the way is used by the Lumberjack with high efficiency.
And finally one additional item – two hooks with a chain – to help him to drag fallen tree.
And thinking about all these specific items, I just cannot stop imagining how the Lumberjack uses his axe to cut goblins into halves, or smash them under the weight of the heavy log, or ambush and drag some unlucky green ones away from their gang with the help of the hooks and the chain… well the applications are limitless 🙂
And just before I conclude this post, just to say that this Iconic Mini got a brand new Forest base. You can see that this time I have created something very nature themed one. Some dirt with rocks and some fallen leaves. Plus mushrooms and one old rotten tree root.
