Today`s Iconic Mini is the fighter / alchemist, but throwing a potion! Or may be a bomb?!
The idea for this mini came when I was reading the Monster Manual… and especially the text about the Hill Giants. According to the book this creature can throw rocks. For sure no one wants a rock to land on his or her head. However, it is a good battle option and for sure can make a difference in any combat. So having a fighter / alchemist, I decided to add a new pose for this mini – when throwing potions. Yes, the weight of the potion is not like a rock and for sure will not smash your foes head, but the effect of the potion can be even more deadly and you can not only throw it, but also to slide it as a Grande on the floor. Sounds devastating right?
So having two other poses (close-combat and range one), this new posture compete the whole set for this Iconic Mini. And as promised in my first post about the fighter / alchemist, today I fulfil my commitment!
The main changes to the model are the pose and the potion. However, if you are interested in the overview of this mini – check out the previous two posts about it:
As expected from my work I have created a new dynamic posture for the fighter / alchemist. The idea was to make him look cool while throwing the potion. So here he is running and got a flask in his left hand ready to be thrown. However, you might have notices that all his weapons are sheathed or left on the belt. Here you might ask why the model does not have his rapier in his right hand?! Well, to be honest I wanted to put it there, but since he will be needing a hand to open the potion I decided to keep his right arm free. So this is the reason not to have a rapier there. However, if you insist I can rework the model an add the weapon there. What do you think?
And since I wanted this mini to be a unique one, I decided to put some smoke coming out from the potion. Otherwise it will look too mundane to have just one simple flask in his left hand – right? So that is why you can see some fumes to come out from the potion. However, if you inspect carefully the smoke you will notice that there are skull patterns inside! The idea here was to have an additional effect on the fumes and to show that this flask contains something dangerous. After all in the real life skull signs are used to mark hazardous or deadly items. So in my case these patterns symbolize the content of the potion – which can range from a simple poison or a deadly gas to a detonating liquid or even worst! Well I leave the rest for your imagination 🙂
And that is pretty much about the new things.
The rest of the model is almost the same as the previous two poses. No major changes here. Except for the colour scheme, but this is not something to bother with since you can paint your mini in any way you like!
And again I have used the same tow bases for this model – the wood planks (suitable for indoor, dock or ship encounters) and the renaissance pavement base (street chase, back alley ambush and such other outdoor environment).
And this concludes this post about my latest Iconic Mini – the Throwing Potion Alchemist!
